A Night in the Forest

That is the night of my life as you may say. First of all I booked a Night bus for my family return to bangalore that was a long tedious journey from the west coast in India. But then it so happened that our fateful bus met with an accidental landslides that are so common along the mountainous ranges of sahyadri and never turned up. It was that I had an onward journey to Andra Pradesh on hte following morning and was terribly upset. Come what may we wanted to make the trip as tickets were overbooked for the season. We got oiurselves a car with a sleepy but enthusiastic driver and my husband offered to drive a bit! but he politely turned down the offer and asked us to grant him an hour's sleep when required. Fine to my horror he stopped half way up the mountains near a forest checkpost(for safety!) and snoozed off. Gosh the errie silence with a hooting. a howling somewhere kept me awake but felt safe untill I saw two pair of eyes watching us intently. I stared back not knowing what it was. ther was a sudden squeal and a hynea darted past us. I checked the locks of the car and waited after 2 long long hours at 2am I finally woke them up and we drove away into the night.

Tranfers and Fun

Thats when I suppose everyone refutes a change,I picked up a shift in work-place with daring courage. I was posted in India and had to face a number of peculiar languages in each of my transfers. I ended up in a place called warangal that was aptly adjusted to its local language Telugu and myself with not a sense of it, jumped into this unseen arena -the railway station- only to be confronted by a number of porters all speaking simultaneously in telugu. When I drew a blank, my collegue who had come to pick me gave me an instant coaching of a few words that I dutifully copied in my note pad.
The joke of the day was the next day, when in my guest house my subordinates came to welcome me. In their broken English they enquired when did I arrive . I wanted to test my telugu and I promptly replied 'repu' which to my horror happened to be tommorrow!
